Mowsworth Rampage

I'm riding a ride-on lawnmower 86km through Molesworth to Hanmer Springs

You Can Help Me Make a Difference... make a donation to the Cancer Society Nelson Tasman and Nelson Tasman Hospice today.

We all know someone who has been supported by the Cancer Society Nelson Tasman or Nelson Tasman Hospice.

That’s why I'm riding 86km in the Mowsworth Rampage because I want to help support people in our community who are supported by these charities.

I'm taking on this challenge to raise both awareness and funds for the Cancer Society Nelson Tasman and Nelson Tasman Hospice.

And I’m hoping that you’ll donate to help make a difference!

Anything you can give is greatly appreciated.

Sunday 25th Aug
Interview with the Maidens....

What's this all about for me personally?

Hi, I'm Lisa, aka Prima.

Someone you know has travelled the cancer journey in some way, right? In my world, it's touched a few that said 'no thanks' to the cancer, and cancer has also got a few that fought bloody hard and, sadly for us, went home! In my journey, Hospice turned up when they were needed most. As I'm sure you are aware, when you need it most is when it's the hardest time. Every time I've found myself at that place, Hospice are always beyond just what is needed in that moment.

Hi, I'm Seona, aka Sigrid.

I've recently lost a dear colleague, who spent a week at Hospice prior to his transition.. I've also lost friends, one only last week, to this horrendous disease. It's touched so many, and taken them way too early/young. Hospice do way more than you think they do... these people are 'angels on earth'. Their work is not only within the hospice building but their reach throughout the community for those that wish to transition from home, is extensive, and covers a massive area... let's give them the peace of mind, one less thing to worry about. Lets get them funded! Please support us in any way you can!

Hi, I'm Juliet, aka Eir

Why am I doing this challenge? Um, because they asked me, I love a challenge, and it seems like an amazing thing to be doing.. Seriously tho... I too have lost family members and dear friends to this, and I want to be able to 'pay it forward' for those who receive the support of Hospice when things are at their toughest for families. Thank you to hospice for all that you do... unsung heroes!

What exactly are you doing?

Three friends (Maidens), (along with supporters, both physical and invisible) are putting our butts on a ride-on lawnmower (the chariot we have named Loki). Loki is being pulled by Thor & Oden, the horses. Along with several other teams of die hard enthusiasts, we will be driving/riding through the spectacular Molesworth track, some 86 km to be exact. We are sure to be having fun, making amazing connections, sharing stories, tears, and being humbled, vulnerable and challenged along this long, dusty road of a journey! At the end we will have raised a ridiculous amount of money, because you got behind us in some way to support my fellow Maidens and I to reach our goal for those that support our loved ones on their journey: Tasman Hospice!

We are calling for a posse of warriors to support the Valkyrie Shield Maidens so please put your hands in your pockets, pouches, purses and other money holding devices, so we can say, 'it was a worthy journey, fighting the battles and enduring the pains that took take place along that long, lonely, dusty road.

Meet the crew - before the transformation to Maidens

Friday 23rd Aug
Introducing Seona, Juliet and Lisa, the founders of the Valkyrie Shield Maidens…

The Trusty Steed is stabled and awiting our pickup

Tuesday 6th Aug
Well, the trusty steed awaits our rehoming tomorrow night..   The Valkyries are gathering for the pick up and we have a new stable ready and awaiting our new arrival. It's a wee way away from a champagne bottle 'naming' and launch but watch this space... Once settled, we have a program of intensive training and fittening for the event... hours of riding prep and hardening of the butt cheeks are clocking up.. and once the steed is settled and into her training program we can give an update of progress along the way........................ Hmmmm we'll need a name for her too....
